The Decree of 11 December 2019 on the reform of French civil procedure introduced a new mechanism allowing judges to arbitrate in a simplified manner on questions of jurisdiction within the same court. However, recourse to this mechanism may have various side effects, most notably giving the parties the opportunity to use it as a tool to achieve a dilatory effect of the proceedings without incurring any consequences.
