Abstract

In the context of the dynamic of eco-climate multilateralism through the preparation and adoption of the Paris Climate Agreement (2015), we are witnessing in France the launch of a series of preliminary projects to codify international environmental law. The most relevant are: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (2015, proposing the formula of proclamation of human rights and the related human duties), the World Environment Pact (2017, aiming at a codification of existing international environmental law) and the draft of the third International Pact relating to human beings’ rights to the environment (2017) as the title itself states, by codifying the existing law in this area, it is intended to add a special agreement to the two pre-existing civil, political and economic, social and cultural rights agreements of 1966. They help highlight the need for international regulation and shape possible progress in this area.
